Christian Cagigal

Thought you were gunna have to wait a year before the next episode didn’t ya? Well surprise-surprise! We have another new show for you!

This conversation was recorded with Paul Draper and Tobias Beckwith at dinner in Albany, Ca. Paul Draper is a mentalist, magician, anthropologist and teacher that has appeared on numerous TV shows and stages across the country. Tobias Beckwith is manager and right hand man for international stars of magic, Jeff McBride and Marco Tempest, as well as the author of Beyond Deception. (To learn more about Tobias check out our interview with him on Episode 3.)

While Paul was touring through the Bay Area, we grabbed him at dinner to discuss his thoughts on the performance of mentalism, getting over one’s fear of doing cold-reading (really it’s just my fear…) and he also discusses an important part of show business most performers who dream of success forget, the “business” part.

There’s a lot of good stuff packed into 20-some-odd minutes and it’s well worth the listen…

David Parr and PT Murphy

David Parr (Left) and P.T. Murphy

After a rather long hiatus for producing, creating, performing and touring, Christian is finally back with a new episode.

This conversation was recorded last may in Chicago at dinner with magician, actor, author and Associate Editor of MAGIC Magazine-David Parr, magician and actor-P.T. Murphy, and young mentalist extraordinaire-Joe Diamond.  Parr and Murphy have been running their weekly “Magic Cabaret” with it’s mix of magic, story and theatre, for the past few years, at the Greenhouse Theatre Center.  Murphy will be leaving the show before the end of the year to give more focus to his family but the show will go on with Parr and Joe Diamond.

This, very off-the-cuff, conversation shares Parr’s and Murphy’s rather honest attitudes about magic, performance, theatre and art. You don’t have to like what they say but I do recommend considering what they say… Enjoy!
